Our new house in White Stone Virginia remains without power in the wake of Isabel. Luckily, we suffered no structural damage. Next door neighbors who rode out the storm reported that there were 3'-4' waves breaking under our house (the living areas are elevated 9'). he house is back 100' from the Rappahannock river. The salt water seems to be killing most of the new landscaping that was not uprooted. There are a tremendous number of trees down in the area.
On the bright side, Rhapsody, our new Beneteau sailboat was pulled from the water before the storm. Yesterday we returned her to our regular slip, which was undamaged, 3 miles from our house. There was a friendly dolphin keeping us company as we prepared for the trip -- a nice juxtaposition of the fury and gentleness of nature.
